Our Teachers

14 dedicated staff members make The Village School a very special place to work and play. Each one is a mature, experienced early childhood professional, who strives to make each new day even better than yesterday for the children in her care.

Staff Training

Texas law requires that child care workers have at least a High School Diploma or GED. Once hired, each caregiver and teacher must complete 24 clock hours of training in child development and/or early childhood education each year. Caregivers of infants and toddlers must also receive annual instruction on infant brain development and the prevention of SIDS and Shaken Baby Syndrome. Kitchen personnel and others involved in food preparation receive special training pertaining to food safety and must have a current Food Handler’s Card issued by the City of Richardson. Special training for van drivers is also a part of the training spectrum.

Our Owner & Director

The Village School is family owned by Ed and Helle White and operated by Heather White. Their roots in the community are as deep as the schools. Helle White is still one of your Neighbors and Heather White went to all of the same schools your child will attend during the span of their primary education. They both see the children and families involved in The Village School as far more than students and clients. They are the people down the street, friends whose trust they have earned by being there every day for them and their children.

Our Curriculum

Our childcare curriculum at The Village School provides developmentally appropriate activities and learning materials for all children. We encourage your child to be actively involved in the learning process. We also encourage your child be conscious of their own interests in the context of their experiences, environment, and dreams.

Daily Schedule

Here is a typical Village School day schedule. The times shown are not the same for everyone. For example, the playground is in use by one or more groups most of the day. The activities shown are typical for preschool children, in general.

Springridge Elementary

The Village School offers before and after school programs for Springridge Elementary. We provide transportation to and from Springridge on our fully air conditioned mini school buses. Our program is a favorite among the kids of our community as they are able to meet up with friends from their neighborhood and enjoy time just being a kid.

Available for children from kindergarten through the age of 12.
Nutritious Breakfast and Afternoon Snacks.
Homework and Reading time.
At least 30 minutes of Physical Outdoor Activities.
Care for Early Release, In-Service Days and School Breaks.

**Registration is available throughout the school year if spots are available.

The ratio for school-age children is 1:26
